Aparajita’s story

How often have you heard women say, “I really want to start something of my own”? And how often have you actually met someone who has turned that dream into reality?

Aparajita’s story

In India Drishtee has met many such women. We’ve learned that dreams don’t disappear due to lack of courage. They simply take a back seat because of lack of support.

In a small village in Sivasagar, Assam, we met five women who refused to let that happen. With just 5,000 INR, they took their first step and started making incense sticks. It wasn’t a smooth journey. Every day came with challenges—rising costs of raw materials, expensive packaging, and the constant uncertainty of whether they could keep going.

There were moments when it could have stopped there.

But sometimes, all it takes is someone to stand beside you.

Through support, guidance, and collaboration, Drishtee became a part of their journey. We worked with them closely—building their skills, sharing market insights, and helping them see the value of what they were creating.

And slowly, things began to change.

But beyond the numbers, what truly matters is this: they are no longer just dreaming of building something of their own— they are living it.

So the next time someone asks you, “What can five women really do?”
