Arankon Beehive in The Gambia

When women are given the opportunity to lead, innovate, and build sustainable livelihoods, the impact extends far beyond individual success—it transforms families, communities, and future generations.
Take the Arankon Beehive a group of 20 resilient, hardworking, and entrepreneurial women in, Foni district, The Gambia 🇬🇲. Together they launched their organic soap production venture in the first quarter of 2024. Since its inception, these remarkable women have demonstrated exceptional dedication, growth, and business acumen, successfully completing more than 20 organic soap production cycles.
Their achievement is more than a business success story. The venture has:
Organic soap production The Gambia

✅ Created a reliable source of income for women entrepreneurs.
✅ Strengthened financial independence and economic resilience among members.
✅ Ensured a consistent supply of eco-friendly organic soap products within their community and surrounding areas.
✅ Improved access to quality hygiene products, contributing to healthier communities.
✅ Promoted environmentally friendly production practices that support sustainable development.
Two partners were supportive to their journey. Kula International in collaboration with Buzz Women Gambia. Both partners collaborate and are committed to supporting community-led initiatives that create pathways to financial independence while promoting environmental sustainability. Training and access to capital to them as a group, brought this locally driven enterprise into being. Women are empowered to become entrepreneurs together, all of them are income earners, and agents of lasting change.
The success of the Arankon Beehive illustrates that sustainable development is most effective when communities are equipped to lead their own solutions. By investing in women, and women-led enterprises, not only economic opportunities are created, but also environmental stewardship is fostered, and long-term prosperity. The key: community decisions, community ownership.
Every organic soap produced represents more than a product—it represents a woman building her future, a family gaining economic security, and a community embracing sustainable growth. As we celebrate the achievements of the Arankon Beehive, we are reminded that empowering women is one of the most powerful investments we can make. When women thrive, communities flourish, and sustainable development becomes a reality.
